Music Programs

Creswick Choir

The Creswick Choir is a community. Singers of all abilities welcome. The choir meet on Wednesday nights during the school term. You will practice some technical development work and also sing songs that have a strong emphasis on contemporary style and global conscience. Occasionally you will have exciting opportunities to perform in our community.

Studies have shown that making music as part of a team is one of the most satisfying things in life. We know strong connections are made with people and music, and health and emotional wellbeing is enhanced.

This is an amazing opportunity for you to sing with Stella Savy. Stella has devoted her whole life to teaching and facilitating connection through music. Stella is a renowned performer and lives and breathes music.

Drum Workshops with Mishael Gyabeng from Cocosounds Hanz On Drumming

Description

Feel the rhythm, connect through music, and experience the joy of drumming together in this vibrant weekly workshop led by master drummer Mishael Gyabeng of Cocosounds HanzOn Drumming.

Open to both kids and adults, these sessions are all about community, creativity, and shared energy. Whether you’re a complete beginner or have some experience, Mishael’s engaging and inclusive teaching style makes it easy for everyone to join in and find their groove. Families are especially encouraged to come along and drum side by side (Grade 5 and up) —it’s a powerful way to bond, have fun, and build confidence through rhythm.

Rooted in traditional West African drumming, the workshops explore rhythm, coordination, and musical expression in a relaxed and welcoming environment. You’ll learn authentic techniques, play together as a group, and feel the uplifting energy that comes from collective music-making.

If you have your own djembe, bring it along! A limited number of drums will be available to use.

Come along, make some noise, and be part of a joyful, rhythmic Creswick community!

Central Highlands Swing Dance Community

Description

Have you ever wanted to learn partner dancing?

Swing dance and Lindy hop is such a fabulous style of dance. Love the music, love the fashion and love the community.

We are so excited to bring to Creswick Neighbourhood Centre; Central Highlands Swing Dance Community.

We deliver fun, regular weekly classes, fitness, workshops, and dance parties with live bands to country Victoria.

Partner dancing

Partner dance incorporates beginners level moves and is suitable for beginners but will also cater to those who have experience. We dance with partners to learn lead and follow. There are no set routines, and we learn new content every block.

You do not need a partner as we rotate partners throughout the class.

Solo Jazz - and routine based swing

During Solo Jazz we learn different variations of common swing moves to add into our partner dancing or to be able to dance call and response.

Routines like the Shim Sham and other group dances where we all dance the same steps will also be learned in this class.

Class Structure

The class is effectively divided into two parts. We start the class with an hour of partner dancing. The last part of the lesson is dedicated to solo dance.

Our last class of the block will end slightly early so we can all go to the pub for a meal and after block hangs.

Thursdays from 7 May to the 11 June

$250 per person 6 weeks

We ask that you register for the entire block. Attending casually doesn't work in this instance.

Sarah Johnston is our teacher and she is fabulous.

Soul Dance

Soul Dance is held in the Wayapurra Hall at the CNC.

See their Facebook for event updates and schedule @ Soul Dance- Goldfields region VIC

Events are usually held on a Sunday once per month.

For new participants...this is a conscious dance experience. There are no steps to learn, just come and move how you feel moved. Wear comfy clothing, and bare feet or socks or dance shoes. Bring an open heart, and allow yourself to go on your own journey with the music. This is a class designed for adults and older teens. This can be a deeply meditative journey for some, and an opportunity to let go and be free for many others, so this means that spectating on the sidelines is not welcomed, but participation is. There are some opportunities to connect with other dancers, but also the wish to be solitary is respected.

A chair or two are available in the center of the room for those who are unable to stand to dance.

We start the dance with approx. 20 mins of music to do your own warm up and feel present in the space. This is part of the dance.

As this is a day time event, there may be those who wish to include younger people. Older children who are able to give dancers personal space, and wish to dance, are welcome, though must be supervised. This may not be a space suitable for toddlers and very young children due to risk of injury. This is also a digital device free space, other than for music tech requirements. For the privacy of others, and to keep us present, which is part of the conscious dance experience, no photos or filming are welcome.

We will have free chai and chats available.

Free hugs also available. Come and try.

$20 for adults, or whatever you can afford.
